Great Wall Motor Extends Its Presence In South America

The sale is expected to continue to grow over the next few months, according to the executive of Great Wall Motor.

Great Wall Motor`s presence in South America through export started in 2002. In early 2002, 1,956 units of Great Wall Picar were loaded and shipped from Tianjin Port with the destinations of South America, North Africa and the five countries in the Middle East, making the largest quantity of auto export at a time in then China. Great Wall Motor has so far become the major Chinese auto brand in the market of South America, with its products exported and sold in about 20 countries and regions in the Central and South America which accounted for 20% of the company`s total export in units, according to its sales data of the first half of the year.
 
Currently, Great Wall Motor`s oversea development has gradually come to the market-oriented marketing stage - from the establishment of perfect distributing service network, parts and accessories storage and training center, to the systematic brand promotion and the participation in governmental bidding projects - representing to some kind the trend of Chinese auto industry growing strong and international. "Based on our market survey results, foreign consumers summarize the impression of Chinese vehicles as lack of parts and accessories, rapid devaluation of the second-hand, relatively inferior quality and inconvenient access to maintenance. However the Great Wall products were given a higher appraisal in South America for their good quality, convenient maintenance, universal service points and reputable brand image." the automaker’s executive said to the reporter. "Great Wall Motor is making its greatest possible effort to satisfy consumers` demands through its perfect distributing service network of more than 500 service points, three parts and accessories storages and three training centers."
 
The auto manufacturer will continue its cultivation and maintenance of small and intermediate markets while expanding large markets. At the first half of this year, the batch exportation was initially achieved in Ecuador, one of Great Wall’s emerging markets. During the past two years, Great Wall Motor has succeeded in various governmental auto biddings in South America and its Haval SUV, C30 (Tengyi), Wingle Picar have been adopted as governmental and police vehicles in some countries. In the latter half of this year, the biennial Santiago Auto Exhibition in Chile is going to bring new dynamics into Great Wall’s promotion in South America.
